Mainly known for composing original works f 
or the classical guitar, Reid King has finished
composing a suite of music commissioned by the family and estate of John Steinbeck for his
book "The Long Valley" and is in progress to record and release it in the coming year. To do
so, Reid has incorporated the latest technology now available which involves the first classical
guitar to effectively address all the MIDI-capable peripheral equipment in real time. This opens
a complete new vista in the arena of live performance as well, allowing him to become, in effect,
a "one-man orchestra" in addition to his expertise on the classical guitar. Reid has utilized this new
technology in making his long list of standard selections as well as his original works come to life
in a new and captivating way, making his already wonderful ability to add the proper ambience to
your gathering, dinner, wine-tasting or special event even more spectacular, without being over-
bearing. This is most effective for weddings in particular, where he transforms his guitar into a
cathedral organ, strings, voices or a combination off each in a most tasteful way. Reid has been
in the music business since he was in his teens and has recorded 3 solo albums, played, recorded
and performed internationally as a soloist and with the duo "The New Wave" as well as touring
for 10 years with the legendary "Papa John Creach" of "Jefferson Starship"/"Hot Tuna" fame,
before settling on the Monterey Peninsula to compose his own music. His fateful meeting with
Thom Steinbeck has led to the commission of the "Long Valley Suite," as Thom saw in Reid's
compositions a modern and contemporary musical vision that brings the stories to life in sound.
